I'd say that is a hefty claim considering that many have attributed Apple's success to its attention to user interaction.
One major take away for me: Ignoring the grunt work of design
research, prototyping, and testing doesn't slow down the development process. On the contrary, it speeds up the process by catching problems early. According to these formal Apple designers, Apple is focusing too much on beauty and has forgotten those simple principles.
