Portlandia Humor.

This is what I feel every presentation is going to turn out like.

Food Store

Saw this on Facebook today after class. I guess it's a health food store where a bunch of people are coming in and getting advice about what sorts of flours are gluten free, etc, and then going and buying them online. I guess this isn't the first time it's happened... apparently a few clothing stores in New York have started doing this too.

Safer Driving

This video doesn't really explain what the Origo solution is, but it was the only one I could find. The Origo basically is a device that is preventing you from both dying by or being ticketed for cell phone use while driving. The ORIGOSafe's a new, easily installed "ignition interlock" system that ensures you're not touching your smartphone while on the road by requiring you to dock it in a designated charging port in order to start the car. It doesn't cut off complete access, though, as you'll still be allowed to make & take calls via Bluetooth. And, rather than dangerously cut the engine any time you remove it from the dock while in motion, it'll instead punish you and fellow riders by sounding an incredibly obnoxious alarm until replaced.

Rollie Eggmaster

Uh... I'm sorry. Was cooking eggs really that hard? I guess its kind of cool, but it does back to that idea of "is this really a problem that needs to be solved?"

MdD Event

Bikethycle tracking.

The other day I though about designing one of these. There is obviously a market but I knew someone would beat me to it and they did. I just think that it needs to be even less obvious. Thieves are going to learn what this looks like real fast. But I have always wanted to be able to commute to school and now I can.

Dodge Dart Official Commercial | How To Change Cars Forever ...

Saw this over spring Break and have been thinking of it ever since had to find it to share.

Great Re-Design

Audible.com has recently undergone a great redesign that is clearly focused on the customer. Well done Audible, well done.

Sources of Inspiration

I've recently rediscovered great book covers. I spend more time in the library than is probably healthy, but very rarely do I venture into the books themselves. There are so many great book covers to be seen and draw inspiration from.

3D-Printed Hybrid Car Drives Toward Mass Production

With major car manufacturers like Daimler and Ford already exploring the use of 3D printing for prototyping car parts, it seems inevitable that a road-worthy 3D-printed car is not too far on the horizon.

The future could arrive soon thanks to KOR EcoLogic, which has teamed with Stratasys's RedEye On Demand 3D printing business unit to fabricate a lightweight electric car that could take to the streets in about two years.

Not the best

This infograph has some interesting content but is really hard to decipher because there is so much information in each section.

The labels/graphs need to be bigger and the information more spread out to make the information more legible.

Flying Cars Are Real?

I heard about this on NPR the other day. It's a car that can fly. Yep. Welcome to the future. The designer behind it is a woman too, so take that male engineers! But seriously, it's a very cool concept. Check it out.
